THE LOCATION – THE SOIL – THE PRODUCTION

The location

The Domaine de Vénus vineyard is spread over 60 parcels which form a planted surface of nearly 30 hectares.

The first parcels were acquired when the Domaine was created back in 2002.

Then it grew progressively over the villages of Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet and Maury until it reached 30 hectares in 2015.

Half of the Domain area is organic and the other half is under convertion to organic agriculture.

The terroir

The vines are planted in altitude, varying from 300 to 500 meters, on hillsides of different exposure.

The soil is composed mainly with black shales, stiff clays and granitic rocks. The weather is windy due to the Tramontane that blows 300 days a year.

The altitude, the wind, and an amazing hydric system make this valley a surprising site where « southern vineyard » can fit with freshness and elegance.

Production

The Domaine de Vénus produces 75,000 bottles as follows :

  • 65% red wines in the following Appellations : Côtes du Roussillon, Côtes du Roussillon Villages and Côtes Catalanes.
  • 25% white wines, in Appellation Côtes du Roussillon.
  • 10% rosé wines, in Appellation Côtes du Roussillon.
